Advanced Integration Method

The Advanced Integration Method (AIM) allows you to connect your website directly to the Authorize.Net gateway to process transactions in real time with the highest degree of security and the greatest amount of flexibility. AIM is the way to go if you have scripting abilities and need a flexible solution to connect your website to the payment gateway. For most merchants the Simple Integration Method which is easier to implement will do fine.

In AIM, a customer's web browser makes a secure connection to your server and transmits all of the information necessary to process a transaction. Your server connects securely to the Authorize.Net gateway, and transmits all of the transaction information to the gateway for processing. The gateway returns the results of the transaction processing to your server. Your server can determine from the results of the transaction how to proceed with the customer, and then returns a response to the customer accordingly. You can retain full control of the data that's used in the processing of the transaction, and keep the customer on your own web site during the whole transaction process if so desired. AIM transactions are the most secure because they are submitted over secure connections from all sides.

Implementing AIM connectivity requires some sort of programming ability. AIM scripts can be written in many different languages and environments. AIM provides a way for developers to integrate transaction processing into whatever programs or databases they may desire.
