eCheck - Accept Checks via Internet and Phone, and Debit Payments from your Customer's Bank Account via ACH!

eCheck is an Authorize.Net payment service that allows you to accept and process electronic check payments -- either directly from your website's storefront or through the Virtual Terminal.

eCheck makes it easy for you to add an electronic check payment option to your Web site. You are not limited to acceptance of credit cards and snail-mailed paper checks as methods of payment. eCheck enables customers who don't have a credit card to fund purchases directly from their bank accounts.

If you don't have a commerce-enabled website, you can still use eCheck to handle periodic billings and recurring transactions. Businesses such as health clubs, subscription services, ISPs, membership companies, and health care practitioners are typical examples of businesses that need the ability to periodically deduct funds from their customers' checking accounts. Of course, customer approval is always recommended, and you must sign a separate eCheck ACH agreement to perform these types of transactions.

Customers who wish to pay with an electronic check present their bank account information for processing. Using this information, you submit an eCheck transaction via your website or the Virtual Terminal to Authorize.Net for processing. The system debits the consumer's account via the Automated Clearing House (ACH) and transfers the funds to your account in seven days. Because of this "clearing phase" we strongly suggest that merchants wait seven days from the initial transaction date before shipping any goods. eCheck services are only available to U.S. citizens or residents, who are at least 18 years old and have a SSN. Furthermore, the following business types are not acceptable for eCheck services:
